Philosophical Reflections on a Future Created by Science and Technology by Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences is divided into two parts. The first part mainly discusses the new dynamics in contemporary philosophy of science, technology, cognitive science and art in the context of contemporary tech advance. The second focuses on ethical challenges and risks brought about by efforts in materializing the concept of “a future created by science and technology.” It explores ethical issues and risks related to AI, gene editing and emotion recognition, drawing on contemporary intellectual resources such as Habermas. This opens up opportunities to rethink the relation between science and philosophy. Its philosophical reflections and scholarly analyses of the disciplinary transformation, ethical challenges and governance solutions in “a future created by science and technology” not only contribute to the development of contemporary philosophy of science and technology but help establish new development concepts.
